Training Tips
Building Swimming Fitness
When training to improve your swimming fitness, it is a vital skill is to have a strong kick. Swimming with a strong consistent kick will help propel your body through the water and make it easier to focus on your stroke and breathing. A good way to achieve this is to warm up with a few lengths of kick when you first hop in the pool. Focus on keeping the legs long and relaxed kicking through the entire leg - think "kick to straight". Once your kick is long and relaxed, keep the rhythm of the kick consistent and challenge yourself to keep a fast and even beat for a few lenghts even when you're starting to feel fatigued.
